Navigating Discrimination in Online Dating

If you haven’t noticed, dating is not on pause! I repeat, dating is not on pause! While the rest of the world may be shut down in various forms, we still have clients who are still meeting, making connections, and dating virtually.

Since we’re currently restricted from meeting women in person, there has been a heavy lean on online dating. Online dating is an amazing and effective way to meet women and can also come with some challenges. I’m sure each and every one of us, at some point or another, have experienced some form of discrimination while online dating.

To be clear, we don’t just mean blatant derogatory discrimination. Most of the time, it can take the form of, “Oh, sorry, I don’t date (insert ethnicity, hobby, height)” etc.

Take our friend, who we’ll call “Matt,” who experienced this very thing. For all intents and purposes, Matt is a catch. Unfortunately, he found himself on the other end of a bad connection with a woman who wouldn’t date him because he was Asian.

One thing we want to remind you is It’s not personal, it’s dating. People are selecting their preferences, and I would encourage you to not let that deter you if you’re interested in that person. Preferences are not always a reflection of reality. What you select on a dating app may not be what you end up ultimately attracted to in person.

I’ve proven this countless times over the course of nearly 11 years.

In fact, I share my own dating experience with a woman who refused to date someone younger than her. The outcome might surprise you...
